Oops maxwell consumed my life this week..my bad!
Yikes..
I sort of got TWISTED by maxwell's performance at the BET Awards 2008 but that is what happens when you see an individual you have been pumping up for years and you see them LIVE on TV. [You know I NEVER saw maxwell LIVE on TV? Never!! Also, I have never seen him in concert either! I know, I am pathetic. Well, there is a story to everything which I will share later]
Shoot I never even heard Maxwell's voice outside of his albums so even him saying, "BET show me some LOVE was a new one." I was like," ohhh....the dude can actually talk"! 8) I know I am acting silly but it is true.
Thanks again to The Latest Maxwell News (check the blog here) for doing some previous posts of articles about maxwell. I was laughing these past few days reading some old articles from the New York Times and Rolling Stone about Maxwell. I am continuing to go through their archives and retrieve some articles but this is what I have found below, and I posted on my last.fm account which I am linking here:
Old Articles about Singer Maxwell
I will be updating old articles that I find about maxwell now and I will make sure to share here on this blog and on my last.fm account. It's all love. I feel that if other artists are given love and appreciation why not maxwell? (and y'all know - those who read my blog how much I adore Prince) So, I tend to read as much as I can on them just to know for my own curiosity. We are all human and want to know. I mean I betcha even the artists themselves had/have questions of those who influenced them. I even started this year collecting articles I have found about Amel Larrieux too.
Hmm - do I feel a book coming from these projects? Honestly, I have no idea but if any of these individuals are in search of articles that they may not even know about I have then I have no problems in sharing! They are extended family to my musical ear! (I do not claim to have the definitive articles of anyone just articles I found and think may be interesting)
I rather each of these musicians considers to write their own autobiographies only because now I am so curious to know more (and I know your fan base is curious to know too). If Rick James can write a book SO CAN YOU (any of us in my opinion if you feel your story is one you feel the world needs to know)n. And, I never laughed so hard reading Rick James' book, The Confessions of Rick James: Memoirs of a Super Freak and I learned to love him and appreciate him more!
I had predicted on my myspace blog that the video of Maxwell would go down which it did according to The Latest Maxwell News bulletin which stated here:

Well, you know how that goes...
Anyway, here's the BET direct (legal) link to Maxwell, Jill & Anthony's performances for Al Green.

By the way don't forget that Prince's book, 21 Nights will be available in September 2008. I am waiting until I can PHYSICALLY see the book and decide whether or not I want it. There are so many books written about Prince but I started reading Per Nilsen's book about Prince and so far I think it is fantastic and very detailed. I need to carve out time and just sit and read it which I plan to have done by the end of the summer.

He came out and spoke to the audience in that deep resonating voice. Then he sang as we swayed to the music. His band was awesome. He told the audience he used to live in Boston very briefly, but that we were some mean people and always asked him if he was really black, when was he going to cut his hair and so on. He said he was glad he moved, but it was all love. LOL
He performed over 2 hours and when he finished his set the band played on as people started filing out. For some reason I sat with my friends in a bit of a trance and thank Goodness I did, because he came back out for an encore performance. (I've learned since NEVER to leave until the band is finished!!)
He came out in a jean suit with his hair pulled back (before the cut of course) and he sang a few songs in Spanish. I really can't tell you what happened after that because I was so awed over the fact that he was singing in Spanish with that beautiful voice that when I snapped out of it, we were pulling up to my house.
Sorry for the looooong post, but I had to give you a little taste of what you were missing. You've GOT to go see him in concert. That's an order Missy.
;-)
HE SANG in SPANISH? The boyee better do that on his new album or I am so blasting him on his myspace page!

Even confirms his love for Prince. I could tell from his music. It is kinda obvious. What you think? But he gives his own spin. That is what I adore.
Need that Black Summer's Night!
Also, I miss my PRINCEY POO POO. I saw the FUNNIEST picture of Prince yesterday in a tabloid from last year. Prince had on some platform flip flops and wearing white socks. The man is a FOOL. Love him! 8)
PS - Sounds like the photo from his Hawaii trip. Was he in the back of a limo? I think I have the in the archives. Shhh... LOL
