Smokey Robinson - Defining African American
Source from youtube but this was on Def Poetry Jam
And guess what else..at :30 is yours truly. I am the dot to the left of him in all black with a scarf around my neck (like that will help you figure out this is me) [I went to Def Poetry on a whim one day and was lucky enough to sit in the front. I went by myself so that was a plus because I may not have been able to sit in the front!]
Yes, I know he uses the N word. It is complex issue. I just cannot go and explain it anymore. I have my blogs on this and will repost if interested. I know I am not a N but for those knuckleheads who have to continuously refer to themselves as the N word then you know who you are as you read. Further, I am not just saying black people who call themselves the N word, I am saying this to other people who want to be *down* and say yeah, I am a N. Then, Smokey is speaking to you too.

I was turned onto Abolish the N Word last year when I was watching CNN one night. And, I love how you say you are a "color" full family. Definitely are color full for you have all the beautiful cultures right there to appreciate, love and preserve.
I can relate too for I have a variety of mixtures in my background (British/English-white, Native American (Cherokee), Jamaican, French, other white blood but I do not know the origin --> my maternal great great great grandfather was the product of a slave mater's daughter and a slave who had a relationship and my great grandfather was thrown into the pig's pen for him to die so that her father would not know that his daughter had relations with a white man. Obviously he was saved because I would not be alive if he were dead. My maternal grandfather was mixed for her was the product of an English white man and a Jamaican/Creole woman (another mixture but when you say Creole that usually refers to the French community). Sorry for my long winded ancestral make up but I share to help others understand. ;) There is a lot to my ancestral make up that I am still learning so it has been a journey learning.
I did the DNA test thing but then I found out that it was not an accurate way of identifying what else is in me so that is something I will have to live with but I would like my money back because I could not read the DNA tests accurately!
CBS had a story about the DNA racial testing limitations for I had the same issues that the lady had but neither a tribe nor a country was identified in my test results see here CBS - Reconstructing the Family Tree (the link goes directly to page 3 where it shows the limitations of DNA testing)
Oh on that note check out Mixican!!
**I am going to get a t-shirt too from Abolish the N word! Thanks for sharing!!**
