Makes me... "sniff" ... proud to be a black person "sniff ... sniff"!

Kinath..u are making me roll! You should ALWAYS have pride in yourself and your race despite what the haters have to say. They are just JEALOUS that we are a race that have endured so much, but we continue to overcome despite the obstacles! {{Kinath}}
Yeah, I know, but seriously, movies like this make me cry. Not the boohoo cry but the tears in your eye kind. It's the human triumph over racism, rich better than poor, big mightier than small ... the underdog being better factor ... that moves me. As far as my black pride goes, I was dissapointed in my skin color until about seventh grade when I went to a predominately black school that instilled pride in the students because the teachers played James Brown music and we sang every morning our Black National Anthem. Yes, until then, I remember asking myself as I looked at my hands, why am I black?

Wow. That is deep but I can relate. I went to a predominately black school from the 2nd and the 3rd grade and I think that is what cemented my black pride and not questioning who I am as a black person. We sang the Black National Anthem too! I am so grateful for that school and the life lessons I learned back then. You need a foundation!

This is why I admire the Jewish culture and their Hebrew Schools because those children learn to have pride in themselves and their culture. If we had something like this in our community, we would not be so confused! However, their are students who complained that they learned nothing in Hebrew school while others flourished. I just know all my friends who went to Hebrew school learned valuable lessons about their religion.

Thanks for sharing, Kinath!

Seems to be a very promising movie. I will be on the look out. Thanks.

Most of my friends were surprised of all the positive movies being made now with African Americans. This is a good thing!! =)
