Legendary novelist and editor Toni Morrison's endorsement of Barack Obama is obviously not significant for her ability to move voters at the polls, which is not proven and probably not likely to be proven. But given her perceived attachment to the Clintons—Bill, she famously once called America's first black president; and Hillary she has been close to in the past—we thought it worth printing in full the letter of endorsement she sent to the Illinois senator, as released by the Obama campaign:

I was very moved by her letter it kinda sums up my feels to a tea. I was just writing on another blog on the subject of a woman and a black man running and how sad it would be to only cast one's vote for gender or race as the front reasoning.

However seeing that we have never had either to choose from it is nice to have that choice, but my vote needs to rest on the one with whom i feel has the wisdom to change this nation, and that for me personal is Obama

. And really has nothing to do with the color of his skin, that to me is simply a plus in the matter. But for me even if he was white it would be Obama.

I agree with you 100% Sharon. It is just that I want and can feel change with Obama than with Clinton. Further, I have given much to the Clintons by voting for Bill Clinton twice, I was a white house intern in 1993 and I voted for Sen. Clinton here in NYC. So, what more should I do?!
