My phone WOKE me up at 3:04 AM to inform me that @BarackObama picked Sen. Joe Biden as his Vice President? Though I had my news earlier thanks to the Queen of Spain on Twitter I guess the text wanted to make it CLEAR that Sen. Joe Biden was chosen since a few of us elected to have the Vice President's name texted to our cell phone.

Waiting By the Phone, the Cell Phone That Is, for a Message About Obama's VP Choice
Last night to verify for myself that Sen. Biden was the choice I first read it on:CNN then
NPRPolitics
CNN "confirms" Biden as Obama VP. Unconfirmed by NPR sources. @publicmic
Fox News (although I know what Nas' sang, about Fox news (Video from youtube: Sly Fox) but I was switching through TV channels)
Wall Street Journal - Obama Taps Biden as VP http://tinyurl.com/6do6gd
New York Times - Obama Chooses Biden as Running Mate http://tinyurl.com/6xm2zu
So I checked around and I had to make it clear to myself before I could sleep. But, then the cell phone text at 3.04 AM confirmed to me that Sen. Biden was the Vice Presidential pick. I am thankful it is Sen. Biden for he is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he's been a senator for over 30 years (I did not realize he had been in office since he was 29 for he is 65 now!) but The New York Times said, "Mr. Biden is known for being both talkative and prone to making the kind of statements that get him in trouble " (from nytimes - Obama Chooses Biden as Running Mate - http://tinyurl.com/6xm2zu ).
Hmm..that does concern me because I can never forget his comments referring to Sen. Obama as "clean and articulate" (re: msnbc.com - Biden apologizes for Obama Remarks) but I know he did not mean that as a degrading way but that is how it may have come off to others. I had to come to this conclusion too about this not being degrading so I have learned he is not like this from what have been reading about him.
Personal example is that I worked on the Hill as a Legislative Intern in 2005 and I had a small encounter with Sen. Biden where he was extremely friendly but he said something to me *off the record* where my eyes bugged out my head but it was not anything of substance to Senate issues but of a situation of someone we personally know.
When I read here in the New York Times that Sen. Biden is "prone to making statement the kind of statements that get him in trouble" I know Sen. Biden does not mean harm but he is a friendly person who likes to engage you in conversation. It is his personality to ask those types of questions so that is why some people maybe surprised at what he may say.
I do not know Sen. Biden but only had an encounter with him but Sen. Biden. We both are friends with an individual who I keep in touch with and he does not so he was asking me about that person for he had not heard from them in a long time. This encounter was observed by some other Senate staffers at the Senate Subway Capitol back in 2005. He introduced himself to me which is proof of his friendliness for we were riding the Senate Subway together with some other staffers or even other Senators (I don't remember who) and he engaged me in conversation. He asked if I knew this particular person in question because I told him my entire name and he asked if I was related to this person (he was surprised) so this is how the conversation went. That's all I am saying for the individual does not want to be identified but this person (who is a relative) was surprised Sen. Biden remembered them too so this is how friendly he can be and obviously he has a great memory too because he had not been in touch with this individual since the mid 1990s!
Now, I am interested how the Democratic National Convention will go next week in Denver. Sounds like it is going to be the place to be!
