Though I may look a little perplexed, I had no idea my picture was being taken (at the blackfineartshow.com) for I was expressing my LOVE for this original photograph taken by the famous James Van Der Zee of Moorish Jews in Harlem in 1929. Instead of paying the listed price of $4500, I have decided to go up to the area of Harlem where the photo was taken and to feel the essence of what James Van Der Zee experienced.
I am in LOVE with the photo but my common sense has told me there is no way I am paying $4500 for the photo unless I win the lottery!
For this Valentine's Day, I am sharing my love for all of you by sharing my love for this photograph in expressing and showing our rich history in the world. The African Diaspora is so vast and rich with many stories. Continue to speak up and be heard!
