May Michael Jackson's family be able to grieve privately without the GLARE of the media but I know it is going to be so hard. I can't cry for someone I did not know but I do feel sad that a part of my innocence, the soundtrack of my life and my main inspiration for my art has gone to glory. God needed him and I will always honor and respect his spirit and legacy despite what some people may want to say.
I have so many Michael Jackson favorites but my 2 favorites ever are:

Look look at the glow on his face? Do you think he uses Jergen's lotion or some brand name lotion that costs googles and oodles of mula? I dunno what he used but regardless I am happy that he released a new single, Bad Habits! I had the pleasure of hearing it live TWICE when I saw his concerts in New York City. (faints)
But despite me being so excited for the song I AM STILL NOT BUYING IT UNTIL I see this album in the stores or it is registering on my computer as being readily available to BUY right then from whatever retailer I wish to use. The entire album. Not a single. I don't want to continue to see this pre-order status here: (I want the CD/DVD)

But despite that I am not buying that album UNTIL July 7! I have to touch it, smell it and look and see that it is the ACTUAL album. I've already played myself so many times in the past believing that his album was going to be released back then. I can't do this to myself again.

As some of you may know, I went to 2 maxwell concerts in 2008 and had an interesting and trying time at the first concert.

Not because of maxwell did I not enjoy my experience but because of an over zealous fan. So, instead of being annoyed with my experience, I decided to treat myself to another maxwell concert in New York City and it was worth it. (After paying a lot to sit in the second row in front of the stage, it was worth it!)
By the way, I want to thank maxwell personally for DELETING his facebook page and erasing all the support and free publicity that many of his appreciators gave him including myself. A lot of us explained our appreciation for his art for we know it is sincere. I don't regret sharing but I am confused WHY he deleted his facebook page erasing all the out pouring of love for his work. No, I'm not mad, just CONFUSED. **smh** (shaking my head - waah)

From what I have read over the past couple of years about Misty Copeland is how graceful and energetic her performances are and I am so thankful that Prince chose her to be in his video, "Crimson and Clover" which premiered on the talk show, Ellen.
Honestly, I could not tell that was Misty Copeland in his video so I am thankful for the LA Times for bringing this out.
It's amazing that there are articles written questioning where are the ballerinas of African descent but they are around!!

My blog has tried to highlight Aesha Ash whenever I can find something to share about her. She is my absolute favorite. I pray maybe she will be given more opportunities to dance too.
Prince has an appreciation for ballet for I remember that The Joffrey Ballet danced to his music back in the mid 1990s. When I was applying to law school at Iowa, one of the selling points given to me was that Prince was in town once to to watch the Joffrey Ballet rehearse there in Iowa City. I never made a serious inquiry if that were true but since I was so impressionable back then I did think - OMG what if Prince comes back, maybe I should go to Iowa because of this and I am not that far from Minnesota? (I never visited Minnesota and I still have not. I was a complete dreamer then and still am!)
I'm so proud of Misty Copeland and Aesha Ash. God has blessed them both with tremendous talent!

However, I have an *issue* with the wording of this press release statement for I want to call maxwell a Grammy WINNER !!! (^_^)
If you have the power to nominate and vote in the Grammy process for next year, please give maxwell's music a chance and vote for him :D. I'm trying to get my Grammy credentials because I want to have a say so too! With all the support I give to so many artists, I want to VOTE. I'm working on it. I thought maybe by 2010 I can become a voter? We will see. Praying!

I was CLUELESS that many people had looked at my blog post on Maxwell site or that it was just viewed that many times. Sometimes you can't put into words how sounds and certain experiences make you feel. I've tried to do my best with my musical loves but right now I am speechless and blessed to have the music of eZra Brown surrounding me.
First time I heard eZra Brown perform live was in December 2008 with Celia of Les Nubians in her show as Blue Nefertiti. He caught my attention IMMEDIATELY. He's definitely is a musical gem that should not be overlooked but cherished.
Fortunately, eZra is web 2.0 conversant so I have been bumping into him online everywhere but I wanted to personally share my appreciation for his music and for his sweet nature on my blog. I feel he definitely is going to grow in this industry as someone on the heights of a Sonny Rollins. Mark my words. When you hear it and feel it, you know it. I'm thankful that he found me and introduced himself to me when I saw the Blue Nefertiti performance in February at the Zincbar in the West Village. I was actually surprised he recognized me and even knew me and my blogs?! I was like me? Wow, thank you.
Please check his schedule and catch a few of his shows on his myspace page here. If I were in town this week, I would be going to as many of his performances that I could. That is how smitten I am with his performances (and Celia too! Her entire band ROCKS). eZra Brown has that special touch. That is how I feel about Amel Larrieux, Alex Cuba, Celia as Les Nubians, Maxwell, Prince and a few others. I'm so thankful I have been able to see all my favorites live and I will continue to see them live. I support REAL music.
