If you are not aware but I adore musician, Alex Cuba.

Wonderful spirit, great music and a breath of life into my musical world.

It is funny when some people want to assume that you listen to one genre of music, but I have realized that true appreciators of music will listen to anything like me.

WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW..

As much madness as I talk about Prince, Jesus, I swear AlexCuba has IT! Seriously! I saw him perform live tonight at Joe's Pub here in New York City and my mouth kept on dropping wide open in LOVE with his voice and his persona on stage. AlexCuba is very well grounded, hilarious, and he was cracking jokes in both English & Spanish. He truly is a person who LOVES himself for he exudes a humbleness and sincerity that comes across in his music too.

You know what your girl did? Yep - I cracked a joke on him. I could not help it. I told him, "My, you are tiny!" Then, I had the NERVE to tell him that he needs to eat more potatoes. He laughed at me as I did at myself because that is usually something I do with people I have known for years but, I could not help it. He was too adorable for me not to crack a joke on him! [Me love AlexCuba]

No, I do not work for him but merely a music fanatic who gets captivated by certain artists that propel me into another dimension. Alex DEFINITELY has that Prince appeal of musical talent and appeal for me. So, Prince, please DON'T be jealous but I LOVE ME SOME AlexCuba's music.

I love AlexCuba's music so much that I bought his CD and a t-shirt. HE even AUTOGRAPHED my CD, and he signed my t-shirt. However, I am SO ANAL that I am going to get my t-shirt framed and put it on my wall in my humble abode.

Remember that independent music artists cannot survive without us - their loyal fans. So, please consider blogging and saying something nice about those independent artists you adore. You know I DO!!

One of my favorite singers AlexCuba is interviewed by the program Latino USA. The host who interviews him is Maria Hinojosa. Interesting discussion on the African Orishas that have influenced AlexCuba. I do not know that much about African Orishas but I know it deals with African spirituality/religion and Gods. There was a book that I read years ago called Flash of the Spirit by Robert Harris Thompson that introduced me to African Orishas and it scared the complete mess out of me. From that book I realized to do not play with religion.

Well, I was pretty active on mog.com music blogging community as 2Serenity from June 2007 until January 2008 then I was MAD as the dickens because a BAMA ASS jumped on my page and decided to discredit a post I had done on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Not only was I annoyed but I was insulted. However, I deleted my profile there. But you know as soon as I deleted it, I regretted it.

When my god brother passed on February 2, 2008 my heart melted. Then, I thought of my friend on mog.com (crashpryor) who died in October 2007. I was crushed when he passed. So in memory of both of those beautiful souls, I said to myself let me reclaim my little space on mog.com. Even if I am not that active I just had to represent that I am not a quitter. Which I am not at all. I was just infuriated at this individual who wanted to discredit the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Otherwise, I am back on mog.com as SerenityLife.

Felt good to return because I can continue to praise Amel Larrieux, Maxwell, Prince, AlexCuba, Taalam Acey and anyone else who I tend to adore. It's my way of saying thank you to them for giving me a reason to be happy when times may be hard! (Me listening to Amel now!)
