Pope Benedict Comes Tomorrow
|
|
|
As
you know, a visit from the Holy Father is a tremendous privilege and
blessing. Even here at the Basilica, which stands as the largest church
in North America, a Papal Visit occurs only once in several decades –
the last visit to the Shrine being in 1979.
The priests, staff, and I are looking forward to tomorrow’s visit by the Holy Father.
Pope Benedict XVI will be arriving at the Shrine tomorrow evening. He
will tour the Great Upper Church and then celebrate Evening Prayer with
the Bishops of the United States in the Crypt Church. The visit will
be broadcast on EWTN, please check your local listings for times.

If
you were able to submit your prayer intentions by last Friday, April
11, they will be remembered during tomorrow’s Evening Prayer service.
If you have not yet made a special offering in honor of the Pope's visit, but would still like to, you may do so here.
Please
accept my sincere thanks for both your generosity to the National
Shrine and for submitting your prayer intentions to be included in this
historic event.
This
visit is truly an honor and blessing for the entire Shrine family.
Please remember the National Shrine in your prayers throughout today
and tomorrow as we look forward to welcoming the Holy Father.
Sincerely Yours in Christ,

-
Reverend Monsignor Walter R. Rossi
-
Rector
