From what I have read over the past couple of years about Misty Copeland is how graceful and energetic her performances are and I am so thankful that Prince chose her to be in his video, "Crimson and Clover" which premiered on the talk show, Ellen.
Honestly, I could not tell that was Misty Copeland in his video so I am thankful for the LA Times for bringing this out.
It's amazing that there are articles written questioning where are the ballerinas of African descent but they are around!!

My blog has tried to highlight Aesha Ash whenever I can find something to share about her. She is my absolute favorite. I pray maybe she will be given more opportunities to dance too.
Prince has an appreciation for ballet for I remember that The Joffrey Ballet danced to his music back in the mid 1990s. When I was applying to law school at Iowa, one of the selling points given to me was that Prince was in town once to to watch the Joffrey Ballet rehearse there in Iowa City. I never made a serious inquiry if that were true but since I was so impressionable back then I did think - OMG what if Prince comes back, maybe I should go to Iowa because of this and I am not that far from Minnesota? (I never visited Minnesota and I still have not. I was a complete dreamer then and still am!)
I'm so proud of Misty Copeland and Aesha Ash. God has blessed them both with tremendous talent!

This world is wayyyyyy to small at times.
After watching Prince do his interview Monday with Tavis Smiley, I almost choked because he started talking about Dick Gregory. I was like Princey Poo Poo knows Dick Gregory? OMG. I think I immediately woke up my mother and told her because my Mom and Dick Gregory have been friends since the late 1960s. This world is way to small. And to even prove that love Dick Gregory even gave my mother a shout out in one of his books from the late 1960s. In fact, I think it is his book about the N word. Small world small world.
The one thing that I appreciate about Prince is that he honors those who have influenced him and those he respects. He even said he wrote a song about Dick Gregory entitled, "Dreamer." I know Mr. Gregory is eating that up. I love it.
Greg is like family so I kind of was in awe that someone who has been like an Uncle had a song written about him. How dope is that? Especially by my Princey POO POO!!!! (I think Dick Gregory will either laugh uncontrollably knowing that I have a nick name for Prince and that I blasted it on the internet. It's all love. I know my butt is either gonna get kicked by Prince or Greg. Hmm..I'm just going to PRAY on this but it is all LOVE. Greg knows I am silly!)
What I love about Dick Gregory like I do about Prince is that he is a constant dreamer and someone who is constantly learning. That is why I know my Mom and him have been friends for so long. And, I know his energy is one that I love being around because when he comes to visit my parents in DC he always makes me smile or he is telling me something healthy to do for my overall health. He knows about my eczema situation so he has given me great advice throughout the years that I am grateful for.
This has been ONE hell of a week for me. And on Monday my Dad has a birthday! Yeah! xoxo

When Prince was not in the press that much that is when I usually do my blogs to show my support and to keep his name out here. I'm proud of the release of his new album, his new website, his appearances on TV and the love that he is receiving. Don't stop the love of the Purple man as I affectionately call - Princey Poo Poo! : D. Don't shoot me, Prince. It's all love. xoxo
For me, my support for Prince is not only for his music but for his innovation in how he markets himself and how he is using the internet. Though so many of his fans have mixed feelings on Prince and the youtube situation and his image and music situation on the net, I understood it from a different perspective which was his side. I was understanding why he was mad. I have explained that in previous posts on my blog if you follow my tags (3121.com, Prince, Prince Rogers Nelson, etc) I may not be 100% right but this was my analysis of what I had observed and what was going on from a legal perspective (I'm trained as a lawyer so I view the world through a multiple lens).
Though I wanted Prince's new music, I am more intrigued to listen to his interview with Tavis Smiley because Prince is very honest and a resource for letting you understand how the music industry works. My obsession in wanting to understand more about the music industry and how it operates all came from Prince. Thank you, Prince, for you have no idea how much I appreciate your insight.
When I saw what was going on in Prince's life to write SLAVE on his face back in the early 1990s, I knew something was up. That is when I started paying attention and understanding what the heck was going on.
If you are a musician, in the music business or want to be in the music business, please listen to Prince's interviews with Tavis Smiley with an open mind. He gives you invaluable information and advice. I'm anticipating his interview that will be aired on April 27 and April 28. Thank you.
My goal is to eventually get insight into all his legal cases because this is something I would have studied and understood tremendously if I had his cases to read when I was in my copyright classes in law school!
