Most of my voting history I have voting absentee ballot because I have been in school or not in town when the polls are open to the general public. So, I am very thankful for this option. I remember in 1999 when I was voting for Al Gore while a graduate student in Iowa how some of my classmates said they were only voting for George Bush because they felt they could sit down and have a beer with him more so than Al Gore. I felt that to be an odd reason to vote for Bush but then the more they said that I understood where they were coming from. I wonder how these same people feel today. Will they consider Sen. Obama over Sen. McCain? It would be interesting to know their views now on this.

On Tuesday, I submitted my absentee ballot to the DC Board of Elections. I was so happy to give my ballot to the office, and I was so shocked to see the office CROWDED with individuals who were voting too! I had already filled out my ballot and sealed it as they had asked to do so I did not have to fill it out there.

Now, I have officially done what I said I would do all year - I VOTED! But that was a given. Now, it is OFFICIAL!

So now I can really say that I participated in this process and I do have a voice. Not only in voting but even in financially supporting Sen. Barack Obama for President. Though I may not be able to give thousands, I am glad my contributions may have helped him out in some small way.
